A notes app for phone and desktop
Find a note, a photo or a contact the way you actually remember it: by the place you were, the week it happened, and what it was connected to.
You put something in, and later you have to remember which folder, tag or search word will get it back. That works for the things you knew were important. It doesn't work for the rest: the name of the person you met at the conference, the café where you had that idea, the contractor's number you wrote down somewhere last spring.
Notes works the way memory works. Every note knows what it's connected to, when you wrote it and where you were. So you can look for things the way you remember them: it was near the office, sometime last month, and it had to do with the renovation.
When you create a note, it records your location if you allow it. Open the map and every note, photo, voice memo and contact you saved shows up where you made it. A time slider narrows the map from today through yesterday, last week, last month and last year to everything.
"Who did I meet in Gothenburg last spring?" Zoom to Gothenburg, slide back to spring, and the contact cards are there.
Turn on the optional location trail in the Android companion app. It records a GPS point every so often, not a continuous live track, and shows it on the map under your notes. Together with the time slider you can see where you were and what you wrote there.

You always see one note in the centre and its eight most relevant connections around it. Tap a neighbour and it moves to the centre, bringing its own neighbours with it.
The grid learns from how you move between notes, so the note you usually need next is one tap away.
Share a note and everything under it into a space for your family, team, trip or project. Everyone in it navigates the same grid. Your personal notes stay private and separate, and you can undo a share with one tap.
Give any note a one-off or repeating reminder, or a location reminder: "remind me when I get to the hardware store". Push notifications arrive even when the app is closed, and an agenda and a daily or weekly digest keep you on track.

Keep and Apple Notes are quick but flat. Notion is powerful but built for documents on a desktop. Obsidian has a great graph that is hard to use on a phone. Notes is built for your phone, uses the graph as its main way of getting around, and adds the two things none of them track: where and when.
Ask someone where they put a thought and they rarely name a folder. They say "I was on the train", "it was right after the meeting with Anna", or "sometime before summer". People remember by place, time and association. Most note apps throw those clues away when you press save.
A note written at a client's office is pinned to that office. A business card you photographed at a trade fair sits at the fair, dated that week. With the trail on, you can see where you were that day and what you wrote along the way. When you can't remember a name, you can work it out from where you were, which is often the part you do remember.
You don't need to remember a title. Open a nearby note and look around: the eight cards around it are the ones you usually go to next. You'll often find what you need before you've thought of a search word.
A note isn't on its own. It belongs to a project, has sub-tasks and points to people and places. Mark the project done and Notes offers to close its tasks. Share the project and the notes under it go into the shared space with it.
Turn on encryption and your text and location history can only be read on your own devices. Everything works offline, every change can be undone, and you can download a full backup or export plain Markdown files that open in other tools.
A note can remind you at 09:00 on Monday, or when you walk into the hardware store. The digest also brings back the notes you'd otherwise lose: open to-dos and notes with no connections.
